Pull up a seat, bring a friend (or make one) — Creative Social is your night to slow down and make something with your hands. No planning or prep required… this is an approachable, adult art-making gathering.
This is a self-guided art night. Choose a project kit/material to work with below — options range from watercolor to collage to fiber arts. Each kit comes with an optional instructional guide — use it as a starting point, or set it aside and see where your own ideas take you.
Creative Social is an open studio time for exploration and self-guided art making. I'll be nearby if you'd like support, tips, or inspiration. Think good music, easy conversation, and a creative project to take home.

CURRENT OFFERINGS
Embroidery — Practice the basics of decorative embroidery on a small hoop, then turn your hand-stitched piece into a patch to sew onto a piece of clothing or hang as wall art. Slow, tactile, and meditative — no experience needed. Includes mini hoop, embroidery floss, fabric, needles, and basic stitch guide.
Charcoal Kit — Bold marks, soft smudges, expressive lines. A forgiving, hands-on medium perfect for loosening up. Includes compressed charcoal, vine charcoal, charcoal pencils, kneaded eraser, blending tool, and 3 sheets of paper.
Graphite Kit — Level up your drawing or keep it simple, with graphite pencils in a range of hardnesses for shading and detail. Includes graphite pencils, eraser, blending tool, and 3 sheets of drawing paper.
Watercolors & Watercolor Pencils — Soft washes and expressive color for a dreamy, relaxed painting session. Includes watercolors, brushes, watercolor pencils, washi tape, and 3 sheets of watercolor paper.
Ink Pen, Nib & Brush — Crisp lines and bold contrast using pen, nib, and brush techniques. Includes india ink, dip pen, brush, and 3 sheets of drawing paper.

Not at all. Creative Social was designed for a range of skill levels— from beginners and people who "aren't creative" or "haven't made anything since they were a kid" to seasoned artists who just want to be around other makers.
Each material/project comes with brief, self-guided instructional materials to get you started. You can choose to follow along or do your own thing.

Absolutely. Many guests come solo, settle in, and get into the creative zone. You can choose to engage and make a new friend or just do your own thing.

No. These sessions are relaxed, low-pressure, and designed for connection and creativity rather than instruction. You will have the opportunity to build new skills through instructional materials, but this is a self-guided creative environment.

We also provide access to our Art Library with inspirational and instructional books, and a selection of hot teas.
Some events include a complimentary glass of wine, while others are strictly alcohol-free (sober-only). Be sure to check the specific event description when signing up.

For Creative Social sessions, materials are already provided. You’re welcome to supplement with any reference images, inspiration books, sketchbook, extra paper, and your own brushes.
However, we don’t currently allow outside projects or activities, as we want to keep the experience focused on the materials we provide in the studio.

While we do have an accessible entrance located in the back of the studio, unfortunately, this older building does not currently feature an ADA-compliant restroom. Making our space truly inclusive is a core value of ours, and we are actively working toward updates to create a more fully accessible environment in the coming years.

You’ll enjoy our free-flow creative experience alongside other guests, with the option to choose your own materials and create at your own pace. We offer workshops just for your group and you can choose from our range of activities.This starts from $400 for a minimum of 8 people with a minimum duration of 2 hours. with pricing depending on the medium chosen and length of time.

Matty Miller
Matty has been an art educator for more than 15 years, and an artist for as long as she can remember. She's taught in schools, workshops, and museum settings, and has run her own art camps for the past decade.
When she's not painting, designing, or experimenting with mixed media, you can find her dancing Lindy Hop, exploring above treeline, or wondering about the ecology of the landscapes she visits.
