High Desert Horse
In High Desert Horse, panels of geometric patterns are reminiscent of quilting squares, bringing to mind the western history of pioneers and handcrafts. The juxtaposition of the horse and the quilting pattern suggests the meeting of two different worlds: the natural world and the human world. The horse stands in a vast high desert landscape. While I was painting this piece I was thinking about the resilience and vulnerability of our existence in desert landscapes.
