Let's create together
My studio is a place to slow down and make something with your hands. I offer art classes in Denver for adults and kids: hands-on workshops, drop-in art nights, private drawing and painting lessons, private art parties for groups, and summer art camp.
Classes are artist-led and process-driven, so the focus is on exploring materials and finding your own way in, not on getting it “right.” Whether you’ve never picked up a brush or you’re an experienced artist who wants to be around other makers, there’s a seat for you at the table. It's a creative community and a third space where you can come as you are.
Matty Miller Studio is located across from iconic City Park in Denver at 2822 E 17th Ave.

I don't consider myself "artistic" but tried Matty's Creative Social Class at the encouragement of a friend and I not only had a blast, but left feeling like an artist.

I'm always looking for art lessons for adults in the Denver area, but I find that they're either way too serious for my actual skills or way too kitschy. The creative social was the perfect middle ground for me.

Personalized, strength-based lessons that teach the skills of being an artist, from training your eye and understanding color to learning the artistic process.
Here’s how I teach (and why I love it).
I believe creativity is a human right, and that everyone deserves to express themselves through the arts, regardless of skill level. Skill matters too, of course. Practicing a craft trains the mind, builds confidence, and brings the deep joy that comes from discipline and growth.
I’ve spent 16 years teaching art in the classroom, run my own art camps for the last 10, and taught at camps internationally. My teaching follows the principles of Teaching for Artistic Behavior, which treats every student as an artist with their own ideas, and I’m trained in gifted education for neurodivergent learners.
In every class I aim for a balance of structure and freedom: enough guidance to get you started, and plenty of room to follow your own ideas, develop confidence, and learn how to practice the skills you need to grow into the artist you envision being.
Whether you're picking up a brush for the first time or coming back to a practice you've missed, I'm here to guide you with support, personalized exercises, and portfolio development, as needed.
Client gatherings, team socials, birthdays, and celebrations. Book the studio for a hands-on creative experience shaped around your group, for up to 15 guests.
For the last 10 years I've run art camps where kids design, build, and collaborate, with fun themes, dynamic materials, creative freedom, and plenty of support. Camp runs Monday to Friday, 9 am to 3 pm, for ages 6 to 12. 2027 Camp Registration will open in January.
